what we do

AYES provide key driven training for youths and practitioners with the potential to have a significant impact on sustainable development. In line with AYES vision on guaranteeing sustainable development, we capitalize on capacity building as a potential tool towards ensuring that youths acquire relevant and dynamic skills. In this respect, building capacities stand as a priority especially as we try to focus on effective generational shift in a very competitive professional world. We seek to groom dynamic minds in various aspects that contribute to sustainable development. We work towards equipping and upgrading youth’s capacity to bargain in their interests and take up proactive steps that could guarantee sustainable livelihoods opportunities.

Environmental conservation

Despite the increase in conservation-development research in the last decade, the key challenges of finding a balance between environmental conservation, forest governance, ecosystem services and development are still not evident. Environmental conservation problems are specific and complex as such they should be treated based on well informed research and specifications. AYES is working to establish sustainable linkages between environmental conservation, governance, ecosystem services, eco-conception and developmental actions. This requires the consideration of youths needs within the short and the long run. We are engaged in participatory research to ensure sustainability in environmental conservation programs. To achieve our objective, our environment conservation program runs 3 sub-programs:

  • Environmental Education
  • Biodiversity Conservation
  • Climate Change and Health

Development intervention

For development interventions to be effective there is a need to understand the nature of the people and the strength of the environment in which the intervention is to take place. In development intervention, AYES interests cut across the following programs.

  • Community development
  • Agriculture for development
  • Environmental intervention
  • Community research
  • Orientation and sensitisation

Agriculture for development

Agriculture is one of the potential domains of the world in respect to creating ready employment and reducing poverty . Through our inclusive innovative and modern techniques, We provide possible strategies and approaches to support and harness inclusive agricultural activities with the aim to provides both youth employment and local community innovations. AYES through its agricultural transformation activities, intends to guarantee a good climate for the agric-business world.

Educational for development

One of the most powerful tools for the social and economic progress of a country is its quality of education. Education brings with it equality among people. Unfortunately, most underprivileged children and youths worldwide, and Africa in particular, lack the means to basic and professional education. This program springs from an understanding of quality education as the foundation for sustainable success in individual endeavors, and societal growth. AYES also seeks to bridge the gaps that exist between general education and professional orientation.

Community development

Integrative and action-oriented development goes beyond technical fixes. It involves recognition of the demographic, social and cultural construction of local constitutions. The AYES community development program engages local entities especially youths in creative ways that enable them to play a key role in their development. We work with local communities and key stakeholders to ensure this type of development.
